Those highway haulin’ hell-hounds, The Detonators are out to prove their credentials as one of Australia’s best live acts, by releasing a live album.
Recorded one hot, steamy night last December 2007, at the East Brunswick Hotel in Melbourne, the album highlights the strength of the songwriting, the quality of the grooves and the personalities that make up the motoring muscle of this act.
Almost a greatest hits package, the boys mine the back catalogue, dress up some old favourites and present homage's to Ike Turner and Evel Knieval, who both passed away in the week preceding the gig.
The “Dets” as they are known to their fans, summon up not just a genre of music, but an era - the mid 1950’s when cars had chrome and Elvis Presley, Little Walter and Johnny Cash ruled the airwaves. Yet, they are no archivists, they take the energy and swagger of that musical explosion, and re-interpret it for today’s audience.
