There have been many great duos in the history of Blues music yet few achieved the fame of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. Gracing the world’s stages from the early 1940s, performing and recording classic blues and folk/blues songs for over 40 years, they became an institution and Blues royalty.
Nick Charles’ latest album is a collaboration with USA born, Queensland resident Doc Span, and is a tribute to Sonny and Brownie who recorded literally thousands of songs. Nick and Doc had a hard time choosing favourites to cover “ We picked the iconic tunes, such as “I’m A Stranger”, “Walk On” etc.”
The album includes 3 instrumental numbers in the style of Sonny & Brownie, whilst “The Golden Inn” tells a true story about the duo.
